The white-headed marmoset is one of the species found in the tropical dry forest that surrounds the Hotel Las Islas, where, besides offering a pleasant stay, works on the reintroduction of these monkeys, declared in danger of extinction.
Each space from the hotel was carefully designed to avoid any interaction with the natural flow of flora and fauna, so that the Tití Cabeciblanco have total freedom to move from branch to branch within the forest in which Hotel Las Islas is immersed.
They are striking and unique, with a large white mane from the forehead to the neck which distinguishes the white-headed marmoset, a species of monkey that is only found in northwestern Colombia between the Atrato and Magdalena rivers, in the departments of Atlántico, Bolívar, Sucre, Córdoba and the northeast of Antioquia, in tropical forested areas.
The white-headed marmoset is no bigger than a squirrel, it measures about 30 cm. and its weight does not exceed 500 grams. It feeds on fruits, insects, nectar, sprouts and some lizards. They live in groups of three to 20 individuals.
